About Me
Ever since I was a child growing up in Minnesota, I have had a passion for wildlife and science. This passion has led to a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from the University of North Dakota, a variety of field and lab positions, and my current position as a Master's student and member of the Edmonton Urban Coyote Project at the University of Alberta.
I have worked with bees, skunks, waterfowl, songbirds, rodents, wolves, and more! My previous experience includes songbird and waterfowl banding, molecular techniques (e.g., DNA extraction and PCR), insect collection, small mammal trapping, PIT tagging, VHF radio telemetry, acoustic monitoring, point counts, artificial intelligence, and education and outreach.
Currently, I am studying human perceptions of coyotes and the attraction to birdseed by coyotes and their prey in urban areas. I am seeking volunteers for my birdseed project for Fall 2023. Follow the link below for more information.

Research Interests
My research interests are varied and include predator-prey dynamics, animal behavior, boreal forest and tundra ecology, community ecology, the impacts of disturbance (e.g., fire, development) on animal behavior and ecosystems, and more. I am passionate about conservation and science communication.

"One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds. Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not want to be told otherwise."
